After years of rigorous testing at land-speed events throughout New Zealand, the Econode wireless race timing system reached a defining breakthrough on the international stage. In November 2025, it was successfully deployed for the very first time at an international land-speed event at the Uyuni Salt Lake in Bolivia. Uyuni’s extreme altitude and harsh natural conditions present one of the most unforgiving environments in the world for electronic and radio equipment. Yet the Econode system delivered flawless performance throughout the event. During this event, Reg Cook and the Cook Motor Racing (CMR) team were competing under Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) homologation as they pursued the first FIA land-speed record ever attempted by a New Zealander.
